Mild fever (102-104 degrees) is a common symptom of chickenpox infection. It lasts for 2-3 days and disappears as the rash appears. It is wise to contact the doctor immediately so that proper symptomatic treatment can be started. Giving acetaminophen is the only choice of treatment to relieve this symptom. Cold compresses can be used on the affected area. Vaccination of children should be done at the age of 12 and 15 months. Boosters doses can be given at the age of 6 and 8 years to prevent the infection.
