Coronavirus Outbreak; 10 Common Misconceptions

4. Kids are immune to the coronavirus

Early reports about the coronavirus showed fewer cases in children, but that does not mean that children are immune. They often develop an asymptomatic or very mild disease, and that’s why they are not always counted as an infected person. But they got infected, and worse still, they are spreading the disease without even knowing.

Regardless of their age, children and adults tested for COVID-19 test positive in 7 or 8% of cases. Thus, studies show that, when children and adults are exposed to the virus, they will be equally susceptible to become infected. We should not mistake an asymptomatic disease with no infection because either way, they can spread the disease to their grandparents or any adult without realizing it, and they can develop severe disease.
