10. Fine petechiae

Fine petechiae

Another common manifestation of the Andes virus variant is having fine petechiae in the skin. Petechiae are red spots in the skin. They are usually flat, and sometimes change their color when pressing on the area. Petechiae are small hemorrhages under the skin, and it is a manifestation of coagulation problems that may arise in cases of hemorrhagic fever. It is only common in the Andes virus variant, because even if the classic hantavirus lowers the platelets, patients won’t likely develop petechiae unless the Andes virus is involved.
