5. Abdominal tenderness
Around 10% of patients with hantavirus infections develop abdominal tenderness. It may be mild or severe, and usually appears before hantavirus infections are considered as a diagnostic option. In the scientific literature, there was one patient who developed very severe abdominal pain and doctors performed a surgical examination called exploratory laparotomy, and they found nothing in particular because the primary cause was a hantavirus infection, and not a surgical cause.
