6) Poor Air Quality
It is an overlooked risk factor for otitis media. Prolonged exposure to air pollutants such as passive smoking may induce upper and lower respiratory tract inflammation by spreading airborne infections. General immune condition is affected by air pollution, especially in children and elderlies. Patients with a weak immune system are for sure more vulnerable to otitis media.
