Alternatives
If the patient is eligible to undergo vascular stenting, his doctor will discuss the available alternative options. These options include:
- CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) surgery is believed to provide better long-term results. However, CABG is an invasive surgery that involves scarring and more risks.
- Atherectomy is a procedure of drilling and removing the deposits and plaques which had built up in the lumen of the blood vessel.
- Percutaneous laser coronary angioplasty
- Blood thinners and anticoagulant medications
