14. Kidney problems

Late-stage multiple myeloma causes renal failure or renal insufficiency. These problems affect 25% of patients with this type of hematological cancer, and it is more common in patients with amyloidosis and high levels of calcium in the blood.
As noted, multiple myeloma has a variety of signs and symptoms. However, around 30% of cases are discovered by merely running a routine blood test. One-third of the patients are diagnosed when they have a bone fracture and other complications.
